About Me

Hi, my name is Jason. I initially started using the web with my first computer in 2006. Though that computer was mainly used to play games like "Command and Conquer" and "Counter Strike". Most of my early web usage was used to watch Youtube and download games through Steam. To be honest that hasn't changed much, but I am far more savvy at using the web to solve problems than I was before.

My goal for this class is to actually make a reasonable looking website on my own. I usually settle for good enough, but I would really like to make something im proud of by the end of this term. I'm not sure I want to dive headfirst into JavaScript, but at the very least I would like to make my website nice to look at. I intend on experimenting with the tools available in HTML to achieve that.

My favorite Hobby

Ender 3d Pro My personal favorite hobby is 3D printing. In particular I enjoy filament printing or FDM as shorthand.
The FDM process is very simple, involving very few parts and little to no maintenance.
The printers work by extruding the filament through a hot nozzle, usually around 180-250C.
By constantly extruding filament in layers, you can theoretically make anything you want at home.
3D printing can also be cheap, The ender 3 pro is only $229.99 (currently $189) and can make most things I want.

The major application I use it for are small things that just end up broken and forgotten.
An example are the feet used to keep your keyboard angled. Normally if one broke you would just live with it.
But since I can fabricate nearly anything that fits in the printing space, I went ahead and just made one.
I've also made a dedicated wall mount for my router, a loose bolt container, and a few other small things.
I can't say that 3D printing has vastly changed my life, but it has provided solutions to small annoyances in everyday life.
