Gameplay Notes
Hell let Loose is an intense FPS shooter, with an extremely quick and punishing combat system. Most weapons kill in a single shot, all while both tanks and artillery pieces are trying their best to leave a widow at home. This game is extremely brutal and doesn't pull punches while doing so. Artillery is devastating, often leaving your squad split up or in pieces. Tanks require a team effort to kill, often requiring a small team of men to pursue and take out. The strength of these tools makes teamplay in HLL essential, so you will be communicating with both your squad and others in close vicinity. You can also lead your squad, giving orders while speaking to command to complete a successful mission. Once you have enough skill you may decide to command the whole team, a position that demands experience to lead effectively. The hierarchy within the game creates incredible moments often, squad mates screaming for medics or a squad leader begging command for an airstrike. The intensity and comradery create fantastic moments that few other games compete with.
What this game is about
-
This game is multiplayer on a large scale, with up to 100 players. This makes open combat extremely dangerous, often leaving you dead with no idea how. The only effective means around this is with communication, having a couple squad mates follow you as backup can make the impossible possible.
Communication is key, in fact it is essential. Many servers will kick you if you decide to go silent on the mic. The amazing teamwork that can happen when all members communicate effectively is amazing and unlike any game I’ve played before.
Don't go in expecting prototype technology of the era. You will most often be equipped with a bolt-action rifle, or a wimpy submachine gun. You also don't get much in terms of customization, you get a field issue kit and that’s it. No thermal scopes or red dot sights here.
What you need to play
- Mouse and Keyboard, or Controller if you are on console.
- This game is optimized pretty well, so a mid-tier PC is more than enough to play. Of course you could also use either of the major consoles to play as well.
- A Microphone. Don't even bother without one. Communication is life and death in this title.
